She was last seen at the Atlantic National Exhibition (ANE), a popular fair held in the east end of Saint John.

At the time of her disappearance she was described as being five feet eight inches in height and weighing 110 pounds with blue eights and light brown brown hair

She also went by the names Kimberly Cormier and Kimberly Foster

This raises questions about her disappearance and if it was something that her family knew about at the time or not

Some accounts mention that she was wearing glasses at the time she went missing

Kimberly attended the event with her younger sister Tammy Cormier Raynes and two of their friends

Tammy, her sister, is the last person to see Kimberly alive

Tammy had to leave the fair early because she was grounded and had to be home at a certain time and Kimberly stayed behind to watch the fireworks display

The fireworks at such events are usually the main attraction and bring in a large number of spectators

Kimberly advised her friends that she needed to go “run an errand” and then she was never heard or seen from again

Her mother Lorraine Small grew concerned when Kimberly failed to return home and contacted the police on the same night (September 3rd, 1985)

As normal for back then, the authorities thought that Kimberly was likely a runaway and nothing nefarious happened to her

The police also refused to file a missing person's report, thinking that she was a runaway teen who would likely return home

This caused major strife between the authorities and the family as is expected

Every time skeletal remains have been found, the Amero family has been contacted about it with the possibility that it could be Kimberly

Tammy has advised that this has wore the family down over the decades as they continue to look for Kimberly

Almost 15 years after Kimberly disappeared, notorious serial killer Michael Wayne McGray confessed to being responsible for her disappearance sometime between 1999 and 2000

McGray advised that he killed Kimberly after she stayed behind once the ANE was over, he provided Kingston Peninsula as the location where you could find her remains

There isn't evidence beyond his confession to support these claims, as Kimberly's remains have never been found

This has cast a serious doubt over his confession and how likely it is that he was responsible for her death – seeing as how the authorities conducted a massive thorough search throughout the area once hearing about the confession

In 2018 the Amero's received an unsettlined lead in the form of an anonymous letter which came with an audio tape

This communication was sent by a local man, contained disturbing details concerning Kimberly's alleged kidnapping, her time in captivity and her eventual murder

The decision to remain anonymous intitially could stem from fear, a sense of guilt or a complext web of other motivations

It contained information about her time in captivity, attempted escape, recapture and eventual murder and a location of where you could find her remains

Details included street names, structures and other local community specific knowledge which lead detectives to think that it was someone local

Tammy knocked on a door in Upham, about 45minutes outside of Saint John and had an encounter with a man who said he was “waiting years for this” but no elaboration was ever made beyond that

Eventually the family found out who the man was and come to find out Kimberly had babysat for the family before she had gone missing

Ed Amero, Kimberly's brother said “you could literally throw a tennis ball from his front lawn onto the exhibition grounds”

Joseph Worden tried to get the audio tape released but a judge ruled against releasing it

“Finding Kim Amero” is a podcast that covered her disappearance

A man Randy Manuel was introduced to the story by this podcast, he had serious interest in the case and possibly was a suspect

He had acted a self proclaimed psychic, offering leads to Kimberly's whereabouts over the years

Notably, Manual was lated convicted of the horrific crime of sexually assaulting his own daughter
